Mission Statement The Sea Fish Industry Authority works with the industry to meet consumer demands, to raise standards, to improve efficiency and unity and to secure a prosperous future for all sectors. Short Historical Statement The Sea Fish Industry Authority was set up under the Fisheries Act in 1981 with the aim of promoting the efficiency of the sea fish industry and the interests of consumers of sea fish products. Defra is responsible for overseeing Seafish and the appointment of Seafish Board Members. The authority is financed by a levy imposed at first sale of fish. The Head Office is in Edinburgh which is the location for Corporate Services and Development Division (Promotions, Trade Development, Economics, Market Insight and Aquaculture Development). The other main office is at Hull which is the location for Technology and Training Division (Marine Technology, Fish Technology, Marine Services, Training and Standards). Research Leaders
